Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Health Information Management is responsible for the overall management of the HIM department, including medical record storage and retrieval, coding, abstracting and DRG assignment, transcription, record completion, release of information, and performance improvement, supporting a 400-bed inpatient tertiary care facility and outpatient clinics. Duties include directing departmental operations through subordinate managers, strategic planning of departmental services, and controlling departmental resources in support of Medical Center operations, goals and objectives. Manages a staff of approximately 75 FTE.
Required Qualifications: Computer familiarity using MS Office and OutlookDemonstrated ability to develop and implement programs and servicesRHIA credentials with the proven ability to successfully manage health information management functions in a tertiary care, teaching environmentResults oriented attitude with excellent budgeting and financial skillsThorough knowledge of state and federal statutes and regulations governing the management of health information
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a UC and/or union environmentKnowledge of the Orange County healthcare marketRHIT credentials with the proven ability to successfully manage health information management functions in a tertiary care, teaching environment
