Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Pharmacist.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing safe, efficacious and cost-effective pharmacotherapy to patients through Medication Use Evaluation projects, provision of drug information and active participation in a patient care multidisciplinary team. Provides clinical oversight to a designated dispensing area, support with financial aspects of pharmacy, scheduling support.
Acts as the inter/intra department liaison in collaborations with nursing, ancillary department directors and medical staff
As the shift or assigned area point person, guides pharmacists and technicians in the performance of their duties and provides clinical/distributive guidance on standard methodologies, best practices and guidelines to include re-directing staff to accommodate first doses, stock outs, stats and other emergencies.
Security of the Pharmacy.
Nursing station reviews.
Training and monitoring of Pharmacy Technicians and students
Documents and maintains pharmaceutical records.
Provides drug information and consultation.
Professional communication with patients, caregivers and other healthcare providers
Dispensing of medications.
Responsible for filling and checking prescriptions.
Assist with maintaining pharmacy accreditations i.e., URAC, ACHC, TJC.
Maintain and document accurate pharmacy inventory.
Responsible for upholding rules and regulations pertaining to NYS Medicaid, Medicare and applicable payor contracts, as applicable
Responsible for upholding rules and regulations pertaining to NYS Board of Pharmacy, as applicable
Signature on all applicable contracts including but not limited to Medicaid and applicable third party payor contracts, as applicable.
Assist management in the development of the pharmacys quality improvement initiatives
Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy. NYS Pharmacy License. Retail pharmacy experience. Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Advanced degree in pharmacy related field. 2 years retail pharmacy experience in a busy pharmacy (greater than 250 RXs /day) is preferred. Supervising Pharmacist experience at a major chain pharmacy is preferred. Excellent communication skills.
