Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Executive Director, Talent Services; the Associate Director, Talent Services is responsible for a variety of HR related functions for CUIT to help drive change in culture to a high-performance, customer focused environment with personal accountability. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the CUIT senior leadership team, management and employee population to develop and manage programs that improve talent sourcing, retention and overall employee engagement and performance.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Partners with the Executive Director, Talent Services in the development and implementation of a talent management infrastructure, framework and strategies inclusive of succession planning to support the organization. -Partners with the Executive Director, Talent Services in the design and implementation of professional development activities and programs to meet the needs of the organization by utilizing resources internal and external to Columbia. -Partners with the Executive Director, Talent Services in the development of diversity and inclusion strategies and programs including the CUIT sponsored Women in Technology (WIT) initiative. -Manages employee relation issues in partnership with Executive Director & UHR. -Partners with the Associate Director, Talent Acquisition in the development of recruitment strategies and programs that attract and retain diverse top candidates. -Partners with UHR Compensation to ensure that hiring salaries are competitive to external market. -Works collaboratively with University HR to manage and refine the hiring process including approvals, job descriptions, position grading, postings and offers. -Define, develop and rollout monthly/quarterly recruitment metrics (qualitative and quantitative) in collaboration with the Executive Director, Talent Services. Drive the narrative of our recruiting status with data. -Partners with University HR in remaining compliant with the University AAP & EEO program. -Meets regularly with CUIT staff to discuss career interests and ensure a strong knowledge base of existing internal talent for promotional and other developmental opportunities. -Manages the investigation and resolution of labor relations grievances, investigations and disciplinary cases in partnership with HR Director & UHR. -Partners with managers to develop job descriptions by understanding required skills and background, the impact on the role and ideal fit to the team and University. -Partners with HR Director on creating and implementing training initiatives for employees and leaders inclusive of partnering with vendors and University Learning & Development. -Partners with UHR on position evaluations, benchmarking and compensation matters. -Conducts research, manages projects and timelines and participates as a hands-on contributor towards the successful implementation of various HR initiatives. -Manages the Talent Services Generalist. -All other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Advanced degree desirable. -Minimum 5-7 years related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: -5+ years related human resources experience. -Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times, possess a high level of professionalism and be customer service driven and flexible in attitude. -Must be able to execute and drive implementation of agreed upon strategies. -A track record of successfully designing and implementing strategic talent acquisition and talent management programs and processes. -Deep understanding of the hiring process, key recruiting metrics and how to drive them to deliver successful outcomes. -Capable of working independently with little supervision as well as serve as productive team member. -Strong organizational and project management skills. -Strong interpersonal, diplomacy, communication and listening skills. -Strong organizational and prioritization skills. -Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products; specifically Word, Excel and Powerpoint. -Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.
Preferred Qualifications: -5+ years human resources experience as a generalist or equivalent. -Prior experience working within an information technology environment. -Interest and aptitude in learning & development and organizational development. -Proven ability to coach leaders and to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, government regulation and law. -Prior experience in higher education setting strongly preferred. -Experience with PeopleSoft or PAC strongly desirable.
