UMKC's Conservatory of Music and Dance is seeking qualified candidates to teach applied lessons in area of expertise, lead ensembles including big band and smaller jazz combos, teach courses in improvisation and additional courses as needed by the department within the candidate's area of expertise. Successful candidate will also serve as coordinator of jazz studies within a larger unit of music performance.
The successful candidate must have a completed Master's Degree in Music, Doctoral Degree preferred, and a record of experience and excellence as a professional jazz artist with expertise as an ensemble leader and teacher of jazz. Preference given to rhythm players, though consideration will be given to any jazz instrument.
Full Time/Part Time
Full-time, benefits eligible. Non-tenure track (9 month appointment) for academic year 2018 - 2019.
Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
