Advertised Summary Job Description: The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is currently searching for a part-time Senior Secretary. Under the supervision of the PI, this individual must be able to prepare budget and manage financial resources of the laboratory. S/he will assist with research projects, genotyping, and record keeping. The individual will be responsible for keeping lab stocks and inventory organized and up-to-date. General office duties, such as answering phones, copying, travel reimbursements, and Microsoft Office experience are required. He/she will also be responsible for any other administrative duties related to research directed by the principal investigator.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience, plus a minimum of two to three years related experience. Bachelor's degree desirable. Also, ability to type 60-65 w.p.m.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Prior experience with reporting to Principal Investigators; including lab budgets, expenditures, and chart string spending analysis. Individual must have experience with carrying out various financial transactions; processing invoices, honoraria, purchase orders/requisitions, travel reimbursements, and purchasing card transactions.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with Columbia ARC software is preferred; specifically, experience with reconciling p-card transactions, the rules governing acceptable p-card usage, and the documentation required for each stage of the transaction process.
