Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network has an immediate need for a Corporate Manager, Medical Staff Services at our Rehabilitation Hospital in Allentown, PA.
The Corporate Manager, Medical Staff Services manages the corporate credentialing process. This role will assist medical staff leadership in the carrying out of the responsibilities of the medical staff organization, including the development, implementation and adherence to medical staff organization governing structure and documents, as well as adherence to accrediting body and state/ federal regulatory requirements; assures customer service by the Medical Staff Services Office.
ESSENTIAL RESULTS & COMPETENCIES:
1. FUNCTIONS AS SUPPORT TO THE ORGANIZATION
Establishing the Medical Staff Services Office as an in-house resource and liaison for the medical staff leaders in carrying out the responsibilities of the medical staff organization.
Researching and developing reports for the medical staff, administration, boards of directors, and other hospital departments as it relates to medical staff services.
Fostering a team approach between facilities and departments in the communication of information related to credentialing, clinical privileging, education and other pertinent support functions.
Promoting and maintaining communication and teamwork between medical staff services and the medical staff leadership, administration, board of directors, and other hospital departments as it relates to medical staff services.
Participates as a member of the Good Shepherd Leadership Team.
2. MANAGES CORPORATE CREDENTIALING AND PRIVILEGING FUNCTION
Providing a quality, consistent application and clinical privileging process for medical staff and allied health professionals in a timely, cost-effective fashion.
Developing and enhancing processes to facilitate communication, workload, and outcome with outside agencies and internal departments.
Developing and maintaining consistency in documents, policies and procedures for the medical staff organization.
3. FUNCTIONS AS A RESOURCE TO THE ORGANIZED MEDICAL STAFF ORGANIZATIONS
Providing applications and supporting documentation necessary for discussion and action on the appointment and reappointment of practitioners who are required to go through the medical staff credentialing process.
Collecting and coordinating information for the medical staff leadership to perform the peer review, focused and ongoing professional performance evaluation processes.
Providing education and updates on regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Supervise the activities of the department's medical staff support staff.
Oversee the effectiveness of the services of a Credentials Verification Organization (CVO) if applicable.
4. MANAGES THE DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS
Supervising the support staff in the daily operation of the medical staff services departments.
Maintaining fiscal accountability for the Medical Staff Services Office.
Developing and maintaining consistency, where feasible, in documents and policies and procedures for the medical staff organization.
Encouraging educational opportunities (formal and informal) for medical staff services professionals and medical staff leaders to promote quality leadership and support services.
Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
5. MAINTAINS COMPLIANCE WITH OUTSIDE REGULATIONS
Assessing the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, and Policies and Procedures to determine the necessity for additions or revisions.
Remaining current with federal and state regulations and accreditation organization standards related to the credentialing process.
6. DEVELOPS PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND GROWTH
Keeping current with accreditation and regulatory standards as they relate to the organized medical staff and coordinating the revision process of documents as needed.
Participating in professional organizations, establishing personal networks, reading professional publications, and attending educational programs.
Maintaining certification in medical staff services or related field.
Minimum Experience Requirements: Five years comprehensive experience as a medical staff services professional within a hospital setting. Possess a working knowledge of medical staff credentialing and organizational structures as well as a current knowledge base of related regulatory agency requirements. Supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum Education Requirements: Post high school education in healthcare, business or a related field of study preferred, or a combination of education and related experience.
License / Certification Requirements: Required: Currently certified in medical staff services, Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) is required.
