This is a professional, management-level position that works directly with the City Clerk to perform and oversee the Charter and statutory duties of the City Clerk's Office, as well as its direct public service functions. Job duties include, but are not limited to: providing oversight and supervision to employees performing clerical and administrative functions in the City Clerk's Office; preparing and publishing official records, notices, and documents on behalf of City Council; performing administrative office functions in managing the department budget as well as office practices, systems, and policies; assisting the City Clerk in administering City elections in conjunction with Olmsted County; maintaining official records and responding to data requests in accordance with applicable laws, ordinances, and policies; providing direct oversight of the licensing process for all City business licenses, animal permits, alcohol licenses, gambling licenses, and special event permits; and performing other duties as necessary or as specified under City Charter. This position is established under the City's Charter and assumes full responsibility and signature authority in the absence of the City Clerk.

Education and Experience A Bachelor's Degree in public administration, political science, finance, management, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, and at least four years of increasingly responsible experience in municipal government, to include at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
Licenses and Certifications Valid driver's license
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid municipal clerk certification issued by the Municipal Clerks and Finance Officers' Association and/or the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary $84,990.00 to $99,988.00 annually depending on qualifications, with advancement to $124,984.00.
