PART-TIME INTEGRATED ENGLISH LITERACY AND CIVICS EDUCATION STAFF ASSISTANT - Center for Adult Education Programs and Practitioners (CAEPP); Lawrence Campus; 18 hours per week, Monday - Thursday, 8:30am-1pm; Non-Unit Professional Position
Anticipated Start Date: August 2018
Recruit students; provide orientation, intake and assessments, including discussion of learner's educational history and placement.
Establish program schedule.
Organize and maintain the program curriculum so that it can be used as working document by all instructors.
Assist instructors with aligning lesson plans to the MA ESOL Frameworks and CCRSAE.
Coordinate and conduct pre- and post-assessment for new and returning students.
Participate in meetings to establish relationships with community partners for referral purposes; networking and representing the program;
Participate in the process of recruiting and interviewing instructors as needed.
Facilitate monthly staff meetings with instructor(s) and Educational and Career Advisor in order to ensure high quality instruction, student progress, attendance patterns and other day to day program developments.
Supervise instructors; including bi-annual classroom observation/written evaluation; ensure all instructors attended the required professional development hours and assist instructors with professional development selection, conduct staff development when appropriate.
Assist instructor(s) in selecting instructional resources, supplies and textbooks, and in the preparation of lesson plans and authentic teaching materials.
Create/update marketing and public relations materials such as flyers and brochures.
Develop and implement the program's continuous improvement plan (develop with instructors).
Attend at least 12 hours of professional development activities per year.
Meet with the Senior Director for supervision.
Substitute as needed, to ensure classroom coverage.
Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Senior Director
MA in TESOL, Linguistics or Education or Bachelor's Degree and 3 years related teaching experience.
Experience in Adult Education, ESOL or ESL;
Sensitivity to cultural issues of immigrant English language learners.
Understanding of MA Curriculum Frameworks and the
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to use data and anecdotal information to write reports.
$28.29 per hour
