The Associate Director of Career Services is responsible for assisting the Assistant Dean in all aspects of departmental operations and administration and oversees and evaluates the daily operations of major functional programs including: counseling services, professional development seminar programming, data collection and reporting, on-campus interviews, resume collects, job bank, job fairs, and career services management software system. The Associate Director is also responsible for general career counseling of 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, and alumni on all aspects of the job search process including reviewing resumes, cover letters, job applications, and conducting mock interviews.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Eight years of progressively responsible management experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Driverâ™s License.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
May be required to work evenings and weekends.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Juris Doctor Degree.
Eight years combination of law practice and/or law career services experience. Supervisory experience.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Law license and membership in local, state, and federal bar associations.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the application process for legal employers (judicial clerkships; large, midsize, and small firms; in-house legal departments; federal, state and local government agencies; and non-profits).
Law student career counseling including cover letter and resume drafting.
Salary Range: $61,012.00 - 78,416.00
Leverages support staff and resources for each of the functional programs and manages the internal operations of the office.
Assists the Assistant Dean in budgeting for the department and developing and implementing overall departmental strategic plans.
Assists the Assistant Dean in formulating policies and procedures for the department and supervises and directs activities of project teams.
Oversees and evaluates the administration of the exit survey, graduate employment survey, and year-end reports for submission to the National Association of Law Placement, the American Bar Association, and US News & World Report. Ensures the reporting is completed timely and accurately.
Oversees and evaluates counseling services.
Provides career counseling to 1Ls, 2Ls, 3L, and alumni on all aspects of the job search process including reviewing resumes, cover letters, job applications, and conducting mock interviews.
Oversees and evaluates on-campus interview and resume collect program, participation in job fairs, and job bank.
Oversees and evaluates all career services professional development programming and events.
Conducts outreach and coordinates communications with employers. These duties require operating a university vehicle to perform duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
