We are looking for a SeniorClient Portfolio Manager to join our team Multi-Asset Solutions team in San Mateo, California.
As a Senior Client Portfolio Manager you are responsible for designing, managing and maintaining multi-asset investment solutions for institutional clients in the Americas, including Canada, North America, Latin America and South America. You will leverage your in-depth knowledge in multi-asset portfolio construction, along with the Multi-Asset Solutions organization's core resources and investment strategies to develop solutions oriented portfolios to solve complex and unique challenges presented by our clients. You will serve as the primary investment management contact for clients and will communicate the investment team's investment philosophy, process and strategy, including asset allocation and strategic position of the portfolios, while ensuring delivery of superior investment performance and service to clients.
What is the Franklin Templeton Multi-Asset Solutions (FTMAS) group responsible for? The Multi-Asset Solutions team designs, builds and manages multi-asset portfolio solutions, utilizing a top-down and bottom-up research approach in order to deliver diversified, actively managed investment strategies to institutional and retail clients.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Client Portfolio Manager?
Serve as primary investment management contact for clients and act as principal spokesperson for the team's investment philosophy, process and strategy in support of winning new portfolio mandates
Develop and co-manage (with the portfolio management team) multi-asset portfolios for institutional clients according to stated investment objectives and client preferences
Act as conduit between the clients, investment team and distribution channels within US Advisory Services to support client growth and retention efforts and to meet with key decision makers at existing clients to provide periodic portfolio reviews and updates
Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and leverage core FTMAS strategies to design, engineer, and manage solutions focusing on moderate to large sized institutional clients and/or retail gatekeepers
Partner with sales to understand, diagnose, and refine client's investment objectives and desired outcomes. Formulate a deep understanding of a client's liabilities and obligations in order to properly structure an asset allocation and investment approach.
Customize core FTMAS capabilities, leveraging portfolio construction software tools to complete initial versions of candidate portfolios.
Socialize candidate portfolios with impacted Portfolio Management and Research teams, review portfolio strategy with client, and refine and adjust accordingly
Serve as a member of the portfolio management team for portfolios that are tailored to meet specific client objectives
Provide periodic portfolio commentary, and written communication pieces that articulate the investment team's perspective regarding the financial markets and fund performance
Provide subject matter and content expertise to Marketing for inclusion in marketing materials. Bring new product ideas to Global Product Strategy
Lead and author presentations and RFP/DDQ responses for complex solutions
Participate in investment committee meetings
Qualifications What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? This Position Requires:
This is a senior level client portfolio manager position and requires a minimum of 10+ years' experience , with a preferred area of focus on Multi Asset Strategies and Solutions
Previous experience as a Portfolio Manager, Investment Consultant or Research Analyst constructing multi-asset style/asset allocation portfolios for institutional asset owners and investors, including pensions, foundations, endowments
Bachelor's degree required with an MBA, CFA or advanced degree preferred Other Qualifications:
Experience and familiarity with the latest risk management and multi-asset portfolio construction tools and methodologies
Ability and confidence to engage at high levels of discussion on asset allocation and portfolio strategy and solutions
Proven ability to build relationships with clients and internal partners
Knowledge and experience in traditional asset classes, with a good working knowledge of alternative asset classes
Knowledge of global capital markets
Skilled in verbally articulating all facets of the investment process and strategy
Ability to conceptualize external feedback and industry trends into the investment team's process
Effective relationship management skills and demonstrated credibility with investment and distribution teams
Deliver presentations on complex financial and economic topics to a broad audience
Support business development and client retention efforts
Ability to work autonomously and make unsupervised decisions as required
Willingness to travel as needed - up to 25% of the time
