The Advocacy Manager will provide governmental relations and public policy leadership with Michigan Government and support state lobbying as well as political action, grassroots, communications and other advocacy priorities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage Federal and State grassroots meetings including coordinating with officials, arranging locations, recruiting member participants, preparing materials and thank you letters, photos, communications and reports following meetings.
Coordinate grassroots engagement under the direction of the SVP – Government Relations including scheduling speakers, marketing events through Communications, recruiting bankers to participate, coordinating with other organizations, travel and accommodations, materials, registrations and event evaluations.
Manage volunteer committees as assigned.
Manage annual PAC campaign including materials, solicitations and campaign records, reports, donor recognition, contributions, and check delivery. Collaborate with finance department on financials and audits.
Assist the Communications Department to drive effective member awareness and engagement in grassroots action.
Prepare and execute VoterVoice Action Alerts when directed, assuring all databases and communications systems are current and accurate.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in political science or similar field or equivalent experience. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, punctuality, time management skills and ability to multi-task with attention to detail. A minimum of three years experience in governmental relations and/or legislative experience and demonstrated knowledge of Michigan politics.
