The Government Procurement Counselor is responsible for client counseling. This responsibility includes direct client contact in one-on-one meetings and through telephone and written communications. It also includes the very substantial time which must be committed to adequately research, prepare materials and recommend courses of action to clients who are counseled. Provide advice and technical assistance as needed. Perform research in order to assist clients in navigating the government procurement arena. Meet a number of quantitative metrics including number of counseling hours, contract awards, etc. Accurately and thoroughly document all client activity.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
A Master's degree in business administration and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or a bachelor's degree in business and five years of relevant work experience preferred.
The applicant needs to have a broad knowledge and experience in government procurement principles and procedures as well as the ability to communicate, execute and deploy solutions to general business issues. Government contracting experience as well as general business experience is desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The counselor must have the ability to handle multiple assignments, organize work and assign priorities with minimal supervision and must be self motivated. Some overnight travel is required. Public speaking experience is preferred.
