This position will be mainly engaged in the Total Rewards and HRIS functions of the HR area. They will serve as an adviser and subject matter expert on areas of HR systems, compensation, benefits, HR compliance issues, and other general areas in Human Resources. Work with HR team and others to improve processes and leverage the return on technological capabilities within the HR department and throughout the campus.
Conduct benefits orientations with new faculty and staff.
Investigate and resolve questions/discrepancies regarding benefits, working with insurance broker, HR staff, and insurance carriers to resolve escalated issues.
Design and obtain feedback benefit flyers, presentations, and other benefit materials with brokers and HR staff for distribution.
Collaborate with Student Financial Services to manage the University's employee tuition assistance benefit.
Review workers' compensation claims with insurance company; maintain OSHA 300 log for required reporting and posting.
Manage the administration of the 403(b) and 457 retirement plans including the daily functions, the annual audit for 5500 and internal audits.
Manage ELCA benefits and housing allowances.
Respond to unemployment requests and process quarterly billings.
Manage benefits open enrollment process, including: employee communication, enrollment materials, enrollment meetings, and coordinating with brokers and benefit vendors.
Work with Assistant Director to review job descriptions, assign FLSA classifications, and determine appropriate salary, grade and titles for new and existing positions.
Submit annual salary and benefit data for salary surveys and manage reports and analysis.
Produces promotion and change in status/position letters.
Serve as the back-up system administrator for HR systems including HRIS, ATS, Kronos, performance management, and LMS. Assist Assistant Director in planning for enhancements, upgrades, testing and maintenance of these systems.
Actively work to increase system knowledge and expertise.
Responsible for required federal reporting including AA plan annual reporting, EEO-1, Veterans Employment Report and CMS.
Develops and maintains organizational charts.
Assists Assistant Director in managing leaves accruals/reporting.
Manage non-exempt staff full cycle recruiting process including conducting telephone interviews, scheduling and participating in on-campus interviews, checking references, sending job offers and conducting onboarding activities.
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies and procedures and reporting are in compliance.
Analyze, develop, and reform internal HR business practices and policies to assure the best use of the resources available.
Lead and participate in Augsburg/HR teams, projects and initiatives that move the University toward operational effectiveness.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in Compensation, Benefits and/or HRIS.
Knowledge of Human Resources areas such as benefits, compensation administration, talent acquisition, and HRIS.
Data driven and analytical.
Exceptional computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and database).
Functional knowledge of HRIS systems.
Good communication skills (written, oral, and listening).
Ability to be attentive to details, be accurate, be precise required.
Ability to lead or teach; influence and motivate employees on all levels of the organization; and work collectively in a team environment.
Ability to work independently with little supervision; reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and show initiative required.
Able to handle frequent interruptions; multi-task and organize workflow; and manage one or more projects required.
CEBS, SHRM-CP/SCP, or PHR/SPHR preferred.
