The Business Operations Center, BOC, is a unit within the College of Engineering responsible for providing expert knowledge and high-level customer service for the payroll and procurement needs of the College's faculty, staff and students. Our mission is to uphold the University's financial stewardship responsibilities through transparent, fiscally-sound operations that promote the academic, research and professional development initiatives of the College of Engineering while adhering to the policies of the University and all state and federal laws. Under the direction of the college's Director of Financial Operations, the Business Operations Center (BOC) Procurement/Travel Manager is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day management of the service center procurement operations including the reimbursement of travel expenditures, processing purchase orders, managing procurement card transactions, and managing deposits. This role makes decisions, develops implementation strategies and provides guidance for policies and procedures for financial activities and day-to-day operations. The manager will collaborative with University partners on the Enterprise project, and provide strategic analysis and planning for the implementation of WorkDay within the BOC. This individual will be expected to manage and lead a team of procurement and compliance staff, as well as manage the workflow to provide a high level of customer service, accuracy and efficiency to college faculty, staff, and students, while ensuring compliance with university established policies and procedures and maintaining timely and accurate transaction processing. The BOC Manager will be expected to develop and implement internal policies and procedures for the BOC staff and CoE units related to procurement and travel and be responsible for the dissemination of said policies, processes and procedures.
This role provides continuous analysis of business practices to ensure consistency with the college, efficiency and compliance and is responsible for oversight and maintenance of the processing as directed by the College Internal Control structure, which includes ensuring segregation of duties in the processing of every financial transaction, appropriate mandatory approvals and appropriate mandatory reconciliations. The BOC Manager will provide reporting, advice and recommendations for leadership decision making in the College and work closely with unit fiscal officers to resolve procurement and travel issues. This role will manage the bid waiver process for the college, serve as the college liaison with University Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Travel, and PCard offices and is responsible for strategic analysis and planning of BOC operations. The BOC Manager represents the college on a variety of university and college committees and work groups.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and five years of financial management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 3-5 years of experience leading, supervising, and managing a team of diverse individuals in a central processing environment; considerable experience with strategic planning; strong attention to details; excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to manage in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; skilled at communicating at all levels of the organization; capable of informing as well as influencing the audience being addressed; ability to answer procurement inquiries; extensive experience in the application of a large ERP system; extensive experience with automated processing tools.
Considerable experience with eRequest, eTravel, eStores internally-developed procurement tools; knowledge of university policies, rules and regulations; experience in providing high levels of customer service in a large academic unit.
Target Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually
