Responsible for timely and accurate processing of payroll in accordance with MSMU policies and applicable federal and state payroll and tax regulations. Provide payroll related support services to campus departments and employees. Assist with administration of MSMU corporate credit card program as well as support the Accounts Payable department as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary processor for non-exempt (including students) employee payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis using ADP Workforce Now system.
Serves as back-up processor for exempt employee payroll processing, including both full-time and part-time faculty.
Runs 'pre-payroll' reports prior to transmitting payroll and review for accuracy and approvals. Perform 'after payroll' procedures (e.g., live check listing; bank reconciliation, payroll distribution reports, and other reports as needed).
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of the University's Retirement contribution reports to third party vendor.
Responds to oral and written requests for verification of employment and other payroll related inquiries.
Troubleshoots and/or investigates issues that arise related to employee payroll.
Participates in regularly scheduled meetings between the HR and Payroll departments.
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Assists Accounting Department with oversight of MSMU corporate credit card program, including reconciling user receipts to statements, ensuring spending policy compliance, and providing related administrative support.
Provides assistance, as requested, to the Accounts Payable Department related to invoice processing.
Performs all job duties with a 'remarkable service' orientated attitude.
Understands and upholds the University's personnel and payroll policies as indicated by the Staff Handbook.
Other duties as assigned.
Position requires the incumbent to calculate and process information quickly and consistently exercising high attention to detail, and producing accurate and efficient work products. Effectively organizing, prioritizing and handling multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. Position requires interpretation and compliance with MSMU policies and government regulations. Tasks range from low to high complexity. Most tasks fall in the category of medium complexity. Incumbent is expected to bring a positive, team-player attitude and willingness to assist colleagues when needed.
Responsibility for Assets:
This position impacts the University through the integrity and accuracy of payroll records and checks, properly handling confidential information and quality, efficiency and accuracy.

Assist Payroll Coordinator and students when Payroll Manager is unavailable.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Ad Hoc Reporting
Solid working knowledge of basic mathematic and algebraic functions.
Familiarity with basic accounting principles.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications with emphasis on Excel.

Basic accounting skills desired.
Operate a calculator with speed and accuracy.
High-school diploma required.
Associate of Arts or Bachelor's degree desirable, preferably in a business-related field.
1-2 years' detailed clerical experience.
Previous payroll experience desired.
ADP experience and business background desired.
