Job Requisition Number: 25662. The Motor Pool Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily assignments of employees, and the prioritization of work in regards to the preventive maintenance and repair of vehicles, heavy equipment and grounds equipment that services the campus. This position is responsible for collaborating and coordinating with EH&S and Fleet Services to ensure that necessary records are kept on all vehicles and equipment. Manages the regulatory compliance and certifications. Provides quality services to customers and manages sustainable and environmentally friendly fleet and repair services. This position oversees and works with their manager to determine which work is performed in-house verses which work is outsourced. This position is responsible for monitoring the shop budget, tracks and approving invoices to ensure materials and services were performed. Works with Procurement to establish suitable vendors and Accounts Payable to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner. The supervisor will work with customers and Fleet Services to identify and procure suitable vehicle and heavy equipment selection. This position monitors parking and moving violations associated with our fleet and follows up with responsible parties to ensure the violations are paid. Participates in recruitment activities for personnel and performance evaluations. Is knowledgeable of the union contract that governs direct reports and manages accordingly.
•Supervises the daily work of Facilities Services automotive technicians to ensure technical adequacy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. •Collaborates and coordinates with EH&S and Fleet Services the ensure that the necessary records are kept on all vehicles and equipment. •Develops and administers a preventive maintenance program to maintain reliability of fleet vehicles and repair equipment. Make vehicle replacement recommendations as necessary. •Participates in or provides input to decisions regarding hiring of new Facilities Services fleet maintenance staff, transfers, promotions, salary actions, terminations, performance management and budget recommendations •Supports sustainable and ecological resources by identifying and using non-toxic products, monitoring and maintaining vehicle emissions, and staying current on ongoing laws and regulations. •Responsible for providing guidance to staff, assigning schedules and monitoring customer service levels to various constituencies for the unit. •Works with management to develop costs, projections and budget recommendations. Ensures invoicing accuracy on ongoing basis. •Ensures safe work environment.•Supervisory experience; ability to effectively supervise technical personnel. •Interpersonal skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume environment, organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills. •Working knowledge of university policies and procedures. •Ability to adapt to changing priorities, and manage staff time and effort accordingly to provide exceptional customer service. •Working knowledge of repair, maintenance and storage of fleet vehicles. Ability to perform industry-standard diagnostic and troubleshooting testing. •Ability to operate personal computers, office software, computerized vehicle maintenance programs, and other specialized diagnostic devices and power tools. •Working knowledge of Maximo or similar asset management software preferred. •Knowledge of all applicable codes, rules and regulations related to maintenance and repair of fleet. •Ability to perform basic mathematical and budget operations. •Ability to obtain and maintain specialty certification within automotive industry such as the Automotive Service Excellence certifications (ASE). Education/Training: •Associate's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training •Two years automotive industry experience.
