Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA), an international trade association representing and serving consumer-owned public power utilities in nine Western States and British Columbia is seeking a highly qualified and energetic successor to the Executive Director slated to retire in 2019.
The Executive Director leads, manages, and coordinates, with a team of skilled directors, activities and services on behalf of its diverse membership. The Executive Director reports to the Association’s Board of Trustees and is charged with implementing the strategies and objectives established by the Board in service to the NWPPA value proposition of education and workforce development, providing a Western voice of advocacy on federal legislative and regulatory affairs, and delivering quality and timely communications to members through a variety of print, website, electronic and social media channels.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration preferred; minimum 10 years of successful and progressive experience in a professional leadership capacity with supervisory responsibility, preferably within the public power sector; proven management and administrative knowledge in the areas of organizational management, board relationships, government and community relationships, marketing and finance, experience as a collaborator and facilitator; and demonstrated ability in working with local, regional, and national utility organizations is a plus.

Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA) is a not for profit association of over 150 public/people’s utility districts, electric cooperatives, municipalities and crown corporations in the Western U.S. and Canada.
NWPPA also serves the networking needs of over 300 Associate Members across the U.S. and Canada who are allied with the electric utility industry.
NWPPA was founded in 1941 to serve the collective interests of cooperatives, public and people’s utility districts, municipalities and mutual public power utilities throughout the Northwest, including Alaska and British Columbia. As a not-for-profit membership organization, once a utility joins, all employees of that utility may participate in the Associations’ programs.
