We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for performing basic laboratory experiments under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision.
Aids filing of protocols with IACUC and IRB.
Performs procedures and immunizations on mice. Completes biweekly mouse colony census.
Responsible for ordering supplies and filing reimbursement paperwork.
Prepares graphs, graphs, charts and tables from experimental results for inclusion in presentations and publications.
Keeps records of the conduct and outcome of laboratory analyses. May enter data into a database. Monitors the work of student assistants.
Maintains proper stock of required lab supplies, reagents, and required inventories.
Orders laboratory equipment & supplies, calibrates instruments, and prepares laboratory equipment for use.
Performs standardized experimental protocols.
Cares for laboratory animals.
Assist in experiments using established protocols and procedures, and records results of experiments.
Coordinates the repair and preventative maintenance of lab equipment.
General techniques in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell culture. Participates in standard lab experiments.
Performs routine technical tasks and assists in the general maintenance of the lab.
Performs basic lab duties under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision. Performs standard laboratory procedures such as maintaining cell cultures requiring the use of sterile technique, radioisotope labeling, preparing slides using staining techniques, and performing assays for protein, RNA, DNA, or other cellular components.
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.
We prefer a candidate with practical experience beyond coursework in molecular biologic studies, including RNA extraction, cDNA library generation, RT-PCR, DNA sequence analysis and recombinant protein generation and screening.
Candidates with hand on experience with coding and analysis of large data sets will be preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
