Potomac State College, part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking applications for a Sports Information Director/Head Coach. This position will serve as head coach for either the Men's Soccer Team, Women's Soccer Team or the Women's Lacrosse Team, and will be responsible for all aspects of the sports information office within the Athletics Department.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Act as the primary media relations contact for the athletics program, to include distribution of press releases and updates to social media outlets.
Report scores and statistics as per NJCAA and Conference guidelines.
Prepare post-game summaries based upon information provided by coaches and post information on campus-wide communications, appropriate media outlets, and the Department of Athletics website.
Oversee athletics website to ensure information is accurate and up to date, and submit necessary information to University Relations staff.
Maintain and report data for the Department of Athletics year-in-review.
Write special topic stories on athletes.
Prepare and submit conference, regional, and national award applications.
Provide leadership related to mentoring of coaches and student-athletes.
Assist with providing live feeds for athletic events.
Be responsible for all aspects of coaching a Women's Lacrosse, Women's Soccer, or Men's Soccer Team.
Actively recruit new student-athletes to Potomac State to maintain a full roster.
Actively monitor and encourage academic progress, retention, and graduation of student-athletes.
Provide a year-round practice program that adheres to the rules set forth by NJCAA.
Have a set of rules governing the team's behavior.
Supervise and assign duties to assistant coaches.
Order, inventory, distribute and collect equipment after season.
Organize fund raisers to supplement annual budget for the team.
Conduct camps to promote the program, build community relations, and provide extra income for your team.
Participate in campus events.
Assist the Director of Athletics as needed with the leadership responsibility for game-day procedures and accommodations related to officials, security, contestants, volunteers, and athletic trainers.
Represent the College as administrator-on-duty at athletic events, home games, regional and national travel, as needed.
Understanding of how to develop a competitive sports program.
Valid driver's license
Physical ability to:
Move and coach on the field
Lift 20 pounds
