The Academic HR Analyst 2 has comprehensive operational responsibility for a wide variety of functions including recruiting, payroll, leave management, and budgeting. The Academic HR Analyst 2 is responsible for academic and staff personnel management within the Department of Medical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.REQUIRED--HR experience working with principles and practices of human resources administration.--Experience in automated payroll processing and payroll calculations. --Experience reviewing and preparing time reporting documents and providing payroll services. --Experience working with spreadsheets, word-processing, presentation, e-mail, web explorer, personnel, financial and payroll systems. --Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.--Experience coordinating academic personnel actions, for a variety of faculty and academic staff and student titles.--Analytical experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting data; skilled in contributing to solutions, forecasting the impact of potential actions, developing logical conclusions and recommending solutions.--Leadership skills to assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects and assignments requiring interactions with many individuals in a matrix-like organizational structure. --Excellent writing skills to independently compose letters, memoranda, and reports using the English language; knowledge of correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.--Excellent organizational skills including the ability to independently prioritize and coordinate many work assignments in the most efficient and effective manner to meet conflicting deadlines.--Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and efficiently with diverse groups of individuals.PREFERRED--Experience with Payroll Personnel System (PPS), OPTRS, PeopleSoft, Students Banner and Student Employment System.--Familiarity with or ability to learn personnel regulations governing Staff, Academic Senate, Academic Federation and graduate student titles.--Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply UCD P&P Manual, Academic Personnel Manual, Personnel Policy for Staff Members, collective bargaining contracts, Worker's Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act, University policies relevant to sexual harassment, discrimination in employment, employment of foreign nationals near relatives, and pertinent federal, state, and private regulatory agency rules and regulations.--Knowledge of University accounting, payroll, personnel and benefits policies and procedures.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT--THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
