Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County has an opening for a full-time Taste NY Store Manager on Grand Island NY.
The Taste NY Market Manager will provide administrative direction, management and coordination for the Erie County Taste of New York Marketplace on Grand Island NY. The Market Manager will act as manager of the Erie Taste NY Marketplace, highlighting local NY farm products, and assisting in the research, evaluating and documentation of agricultural marketing and agri-tourism strategies. Responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, management and/or supervision of the Erie County Taste NY Marketplace, and for assessing local system needs, trends, marketing, product sourcing, financial management, record keeping and program supervision.
Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Education (Associate's Degree plus 2 years transferrable program/functional experience may substitute).
Experience relevant to the role of the position.

Experience in purchasing, storing (inventory), and marketing local agriculture and/or retail food products.
Experience in local food display, merchandising, and sales as well as the promotion of agri-tourism.
Experience working directly with famers and artisanal manufacturers.
Demonstrated experience with understanding detailed financial records of sales and marketing trends.
Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems.
Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, collect recommendations and recognize ‘top-sellers.’
Demonstrated ability to do profit margin and performance analysis for products.

Administrative Direction - 30%
Plan the administration of Erie County Taste of NY Marketplace.
Plan for Marketplace staffing needs.
Develop communication strategies for the Erie County Taste NY Marketplace Program.
With high initiative and discretion, plan program budget based on established financial guidelines or procedures in conjunction with the Finance Manager and Executive Director.
Administrative Management - 35%
Hire, supervise, train Marketplace staff and provide performance evaluations.
Monitor market activities (surveys, sales, foot traffic, educational programs) to ensure that outreach and research educational content support CCE's education, outreach and agricultural promotion objectives.
Manage budget and accounts.
Set work schedules based on needs of the Marketplace.
Administer Point of Sale (POS) software associated with a cash terminal, as well as credit card processing and troubleshoot problems.
Analyze detailed financial records of sales to determine marketing trends.
Manage relationships with cooperating farms for data collection and contract reporting requirements, as well as and program assessment.
Solve problems and resolve conflicts that arise in the Taste NY Marketplace Program utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
Work with Agriculture/Horticulture Educators in Erie County on management of Marketplace activities, as assigned.
Administrative Coordination/Operation - 30%
Promote local farms through the market.
Coordinate with outside vendors at a potential outdoor farmers' market during the growing season.
Coordinate educational program materials at the Marketplace site through a variety of delivery methods.
Assist in creation and maintain an interactive kiosk to identify and promote local farms and farm products).
Coordinate local agriculture vendors and community impact.
Work with Agriculture/Horticulture Educators in Erie County on administrative market activities, as assigned.
Assist with the preparation of reports for Taste NY progress reports for funders.
Procure products based on needs and trends.
Promote agri-tourism in Erie County and throughout New York State on the local farms and products, via a variety of methods including informational kiosk and informational brochures, as appropriate
Participate in promotional efforts related to the Taste NY Market via press releases, articles, social media and web-based communications.
Produce detailed reports on sales of products.
Prepare and maintain detailed financial records of sales.
Interface with cooperating farms to collect data for contract reporting requirements and program assessment.
Transport self, and/or program materials and resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.
Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations, vendors, and businesses.
Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
Prepare and submit accurate mileage reports and supporting documentation in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and trainings as scheduled/required.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned.
