The GVMP operates veterinary treatment facilities (VTFs) on most military installations for the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. Performs professional veterinary work that involves the investigation, examination, treatment, and control of animals. Diagnoses animal health problems; vaccinates against diseases, such as distemper and rabies; medicates animals suffering from infections or illnesses; treats and dresses wounds, seat fractures; performs surgery; and advise owners about animal feeding, behavior, and breeding. Issues health certificates. Performs and interprets laboratory findings. Maintains health records and prepares reports as necessary. Includes other related duties as assigned. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies:
Possess a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA). (transcripts required) Must possess an unrestricted, valid state license to practice veterinary medicine (required with application)
Physical requirement: Ability to lift 40 lbs and long periods of standing, restraining, kneeling, reaching and sitting, etc.

Unofficial college/university transcripts may be uploaded for initial qualification screening. Official transcripts must be provided prior to time of hire.
State licensing screen shot ok. Official license required prior to time of hire.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

A physical examination and immunizations are required to work in a veterinary environment.
Must not have an aversion to animals, blood, bodily fluids, animal tissues, strong odors, needles, or sharp instruments. Long periods of standing, restraining, kneeling, reaching and sitting, etc.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is pro-rated based on a 40 hour work week to between $35.94 and $42.64 per hour
