Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Financial Coordinator for the Department of Medicine – Infectious Diseases at the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Financial Coordinator (FC) position is to implement and ensure integrity of the processes to determine financial eligibility, sliding fee scale, and monitoring cap on charges of eligible Ryan White (RW) patients.
Assists patients to understand health care coverages; marketplace, affordable care act and other available programs.
Explains the referral process for managed care insurance companies in general terms.
Utilizes the agency's patient data system(s) to enter patient service records and all eligibility information.
Documents all client contact within the patient's chart in addition to CHAMP, including the specific service provided, the length of service, and any notes that identify details about the client interaction.
Runs reports on financial performance measures to ensure program and patient adherence to program standards.
Assists in researching purchasing information and submission of purchase requisitions.
Tracks and reconciles expenses, and follows-up on payments issued for patient supports services; bus transportation, Health Insurance Premium Program (coinsurance and deductibles), emergency financial assistance, and labs.
Reviews financial reports and supporting documentations for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with approved budgets.
Aids in preparation of financial data in the preparation of grant proposals.
Generates expenditure projections and reports for decision-making.
Functions as a team member to organize and prioritize responsibilities to complete work assignments.
Remains cognizant of peaks and troughs in work activity and offers assistance to others during slow periods.
Ensures compliance with University, local, state and federal government project policies and procedures relative to financial transactions.
Develops and analyzes fiscal data and presents monthly reports, as required.
Interfaces and integrates with Rutgers University (RU), University Hospital (UH) departments, McKesson, DGCA and/or laboratories and clinical centers.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field plus two (2) year's experience involving review, analysis and evaluation of financial, organizational, and/or administrative practices in a business or government agency required.
Two year's experience in medical billing and accounts receivable, collections and reconciliation are also required.
Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be proficient in computer applications and web based programs such as MS Office products and MS Outlook.
Must be detail oriented, hold self-accountable to high standards of professional excellence, and be able to maximize resources on a continued basis.
Must have excellent interpersonal/human relations skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to maintain records and files.
Knowledge of spreadsheet applications and MS Office required.
Experience with HRSA regulations preferred.
