Job Summary/Basic Function: JOBSUMMARY: This is a position of substantial responsibility. The Transcript Evaluator evaluates all incoming college, community college, and university transcripts. The Evaluator develops and maintains an updated cross reference system of courses from colleges, universities, and community colleges. The Evaluator process information determining the exact status of transferred classes and provides accurate accounting of transferred classes to the university records system, academic departments and to the student applicants. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Admissions.
Major duties and responsibilities:
Evaluate Transcripts for new and returning transfer admissions applicants
Recognize academic, technical, and quarter hour course work
Determine, and categorize acceptable transfer hours
Determine admission status of applicants
Consult with and advise students concerning transfer practices and policies.
Assist on campus colleges and department in the determination equivalent and non-equivalent course work.
Assign credit based upon standardized transfer tests such as CLEP and Advanced Placement.
Evaluate credit earned through military training
Evaluate some international transcripts
Evaluate Tech-Prep course work
Evaluate non-traditional work awarded through apprentice training
Train student workers and Admissions employees regarding the transfer process
Assist entering students with the admission process
Assist applicants in person, online and over the telephone
REPORTINGRELATIONSHIPS: Supervision Received: Minimum supervision. Works independently after training.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS: Through understanding of college course organization and curriculum. Knowledge of interpretation and evaluation of university catalogs. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Skill and accuracy in making mathematical computations. Familiarity with transfer software products, Banner preferred. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing.
EDUCATION: College degree preferred. Experience with university transfer systems and transcript evaluation may be substituted.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year experience in a college transfer and/or admission setting preferred.
PHYSICALANDMENTALREQUIREMENTS: Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines. Ability to interact with diverse populations. Ability and willingness to provide student oriented service.
Preferred Qualifications: PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: College degree preferred Experience in transcript evaluation preferred.
