The Rutgers University, School of Nursing invites applications for a nursing informatics faculty position teaching didactic courses and clinical practica as well as teaching and advising students across campuses. The candidate teaches and mentors students in nursing and health information technology. The faculty is expected to advise students, work collaboratively with nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines, maintain active involvement in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in their field, and actively seek opportunities for and participates in School of Nursing faculty governance.
Candidates should be able to teach and produce intellectual contributions in Nursing and Health Care Informatics graduate courses such as Nursing Systems Developmental Lifecycle, Informatics Project and Change Management, and Database Design, Development, and Applications and at least one of the following areas: systems analysis and design, data integration and systems interoperability, clinical decision support, consumer informatics, documentation and transmission standards, or information security. Student advising; graduate project and thesis supervision; intellectual contributions leading to publication in high quality journals; and service are required. The position is primarily in the graduate program but the candidate will be expected to teach courses across the curriculum.
Minimum Education and Experience:
(1) Doctoral degree required or current enrollment in a doctoral program.
(2) Expertise and experience in nursing/health care informatics
(3) Teaching experience with nursing students
(4) Experience with online education preferred
(5) Demonstrated excellence in teaching
