Strategically develop, promote and manage a service organization for industrial clients in need of training, testing, applied research and other technical services provided via the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering.
Develop and manage staff, budgets and facilities in outreach service operations. Overall responsibility for execution of external promotion, service contracts, facilities and equipment maintenance.
Optimization and continuous improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Identify means to effectively scale the scope of CPSPE/industrial interactions, systems for a common platform interface and shared information repository. Drive development of quality and performance metrics.
Drive expansion of course offerings to additional polymer industry segments through course material development or acquisition. Primary responsibility for recruitment of instructors. Pursue means to enhance analytical and testing capabilities using internal and external resources.
Develop strategic alliances with industry, economic development organizations and other sources of potential clienteles. Solicit feedback and direction from client pool for course offerings, test capabilities and other potential services. Seek funding opportunities for industry support and competitiveness enhancement.
Conceive of and drive implementation of unique outreach programs to industry. Oversee events, media utilization and development of publicity materials. Identify conferences and expos for attendance and promotion.
Direct supervision as a first-line supervisor over exempt staff (and non-exempt staff, if applicable).
A relevant Master’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in adult education and/or analytical laboratory management. A technical degree (B.S or M.S) is strongly desired with a solid knowledge base in polymer technology and research. Experience with staff, budget and facilities management is required, along with excellent communication skills. Experience with industry and demonstrated marketing capability is desired.
