Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Director of Enterprise Applications and Integration is responsible for the planning, architecture, implementation, management, support and integration of the College’s enterprise applications catalog. The catalog includes the Ellucian Colleague ERP system, the business intelligence and reporting environment, the College’s web sites, various administrative and academic applications, and the the integrations which connect on-premise, third-party and cloud/hosted services with the College’s existing infrastructure. The Director aligns planning, resources and activities to ensure the catalog aligns with the College’s strategy, and the requirements of the administrative and academic units. The Director contributes to the execution of the institution’s identity management, information security, and compliance initiatives, manages relationships with vendors and strategic partners, and assists the CIO with long-range planning and technology.
The Director standardizes and stabilizes operations, manages application and system development life cycles, and implements industry best practices and standards, to ensure stability, reliability, regulatory compliance and security of enterprise applications. The Director identifies and seeks creative and cost-effective solutions to problems which minimizes impact on College community. The Director leverages maximum utility from existing systems and applications, and ensures that integration between on-premise and cloud systems, applications and services facilitates the secure and efficient flow of data between platforms. The Director incorporates modern enterprise, application, and data architecture frameworks as the foundation for development and integration with other systems. The Director identifies and researches systems, applications, integrations and emerging trends in information technology and higher education sectors that enhance productivity for the College community.
The Director leads and manages the activities of the enterprise applications team, consisting of two analysts and a developer, with a focus on customer service and professionalism and the timely delivery of projects, applications, solutions and services. The Director oversees professional development plans for staff to align their skill sets with the department’s and the College’s requirements and goals.
The Director is an exceptional communicator and collaborator, and serves a key leader and partner in the planning, design and implementation of a broad set of administrative and academic applications, databases, and services. The Director engages with governance committees, and establishes and maintains productive working relationships with stakeholders across the College community. The Director works closely with the CIO and Technology leadership team to set strategy and plans for products and services.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED This position supervises three staff members (two analysts, and an application developer).
• Oversees operational management and support of enterprise applications and integrations for administrative and academic units across the College. • Assesses the urgency and priority of application issues, assigns resources accordingly, and facilitates timely resolution of problems. Provides technical guidance and hands-on support as required. • Manages the systems and application development life-cycle, system analysis and design, and oversees development and testing environments and platforms. • Develops and implements software development methodology, policies, procedures, standards and processes in a coherent, consistent, accountable, and repeatable manner. • Develops service level agreements, performance metrics, policies, procedures, standards and processes for the testing, monitoring and support of the College’s application and development environment to ensure continuous and reliable delivery of applications. • Develops and implements maintenance schedules for updates and upgrades to applications, systems and integrations which align with the College’s business and academic calendars. • Identifies and manages the integration of on-premise and cloud applications and services with the College’s existing infrastructure. • Directs and contributes to the continued development of identity and access management (IAM) processes and solutions. • Implements industry-standard single sign-on (SSO), authentication and authorization protocols for to integrate internal and third-party applications and services. • Contributes to the development of, and implements, best practices, policies, processes and procedures for information security compliance, data loss prevention, business continuity and disaster recovery plans for enterprise applications. • Collaborates with infrastructure team to develop and maintain properly specified infrastructure for enterprise application and integration platforms and environments. • Implements and oversees change management, testing and quality assurance policies, procedures and processes to ensure application changes are communicated, tested, and deliver expected functionality, prior to implementation into the production environment.
PLANNING • Oversees the prioritizing, planning and execution of strategic and tactical projects for internal systems to ensure that they meet the objectives and needs of the department. • Collaborates with stakeholders across the campus community to identify, plan, and implement innovative technology solutions and process improvements that meet functional area requirements and support the College’s mission and strategy. • Works with academic and business process owners to define requirements for new technology implementations and expected value on investment, and provide integrated support solutions. • Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for technology spending and resource allocation for enterprise applications and integrations. • Develops project plans, resource and change management plans for project implementation. Maintains effective relationships with critical stakeholders through project lifecycle. • Conducts research to remain current and knowledgeable of industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new administrative and academic requirements and opportunities.
ADMINISTRATION • Manages relationships with vendors, technology partners and contract providers to ensure service delivery excellence. Supervises and mentors the Enterprise Applications team to cultivate a culture of excellence, professionalism, personal responsibility and accountability. • Conducts searches and performance reviews, and creates professional development plans for staff members. • Effectively partners with stakeholders via governance committees. Serves as the department’s liaison to academic and business units regarding enterprise applications and integrations. • Manages meetings and communications between stakeholders, and provides reports to CIO as needed on progress of initiatives, issues and opportunities. • Engages with campus stakeholders and end users to increase awareness and adoption of enterprise applications, and leverage features and functionality from existing applications. • Assists the CIO with strategic planning for the department, and the development, deployment and adoption of policies and procedures. • Assists in the preparation of, and manages, the enterprise applications budget.

• Bachelor’s degree in discipline related computer science, programming, or engineering, software engineering or development, computer or information systems, information technology, or equivalent experience (minimum 4 years). • Demonstrated experience as a supervisor managing staff.? • Demonstrated experience leading one or more of the following activities in a corporate, educational, or non-profit setting: software or application development; integration of information systems; implementation and maintenance of enterprise applications and databases.? • Demonstrated experience planning and managing projects. • Demonstrated experience with customer service, customer problem resolution or troubleshooting.
