Position Summary: Serves as key strategist with the Chief Strategy Officer of UC Health (CSO) in initiating and developing new strategic direction, long- and short-range plans and innovative initiatives. Has high level authority to broadly represent the CSO's interests across the organization. Responds to issues with little or no precedence. Will help drive and develop system-wide initiatives , typically with organization-wide impact. Will convene and manage various stakeholders within UCOP and across the health system engaged in various projects or initiatives. Uses advanced concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on highly complex issues or problems which require analysis of unique issues / problems without precedent and / or structure. Exercises a high level of judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Duty 1: In collaboration and communication with the CSO, strategizing and/or negotiating directly to achieve consensus among high level stakeholders (such as faculty, senior medical center / professional school leadership, other stakeholders in the Office of the President, public agencies, and the community) to develop solutions to complex problems. Providing briefings on key issues to a variety of stakeholders. Representing the CSO on high-level task forces and long- and short-range strategic planning groups. Function:Strategy Percent: 30
Duty 2: Handling highly complex and critical issues and leading projects of significance requiring facilitation and collaboration with representatives across campuses and organizational functions. This includes providing leadership in establishing partnerships with key stakeholders, as well as conducting and communicating high-level analyses on a broad range of issues and current and potential projects. This also includes, where appropriate, development of work plans and project managing large initiatives. Examples of such projects and initiatives may include, but are not limited to, health data governance, strategy and partnerships; development of system level positions and messaging regarding Medicaid and other policy issues. Duty 3: Providing a framework for policy and organizational change, developing strategies for decision making and change management to remove barriers to goal achievement. Function:Organizational change Percent: 10
Duty 4: Staying well-informed and keeping abreast of current issues in health policy and the health care marketplace. Function:Research Percent: 10
Duty 5: Initiating and designing summary reports and background materials including approaches, trends, sources and uses, etc., to evaluate initiatives of UC Health and disseminate key lessons and insights to stakeholders throughout UC Health. Function:Reporting Percent: 10
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree required.
Advanced skills in short- and long-range planning, program and project management, facilitation and collaboration.
Sound strategic thinking and consulting skills in guiding the organization toward workable strategies and solutions.
Proven ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision.
Advanced ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels.
Advanced ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of staff and members of the community.
Knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
Health regulatory experience and expertise. Required
Law degree or graduate degree in a health care field strongly preferred.
Financial analysis and reporting techniques.
Experience working in or with Congress and/or a Federal agency in the health care space
Experience working in an Academic Medical Center.
Experience working with business and /or regulatory issues regarding health data. Preferred
