The Supervisor of Ultrasound is responsible for assisting the Management team in the supervision, planning, organizing and improvement of work processes in the Ultrasound section of Radiology services as instructed by the Director and/or Radiologist. The Supervisor of Ultrasound is responsible for department orientation, teaching, coaching, and supervision of staff while also personally performing Ultrasound exams. The Supervisor of Ultrasound assures the organization's vision, mission, values and goals are adhered to and understood. The Supervisor of Ultrasound recommends and assists in the development of policies and procedures to comply with regulatory organizations and Baylor Scott & White Health philosophy.
The Supervisor of Ultrasound job duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for ensuring that adequate staffing, supplies and resources are available to perform Ultrasound Exams and Services to meet clinical demand.
Collaborates with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings to assure consistent and timely communication.
Monitors goals, achievements and assures the outcome of the goals is reflected in the annual performance evaluations.
Provides the management team feedback related to new equipment and services needed to continue growth and opportunities to retain current when volumes drop or if Strategic Opportunities present.
Responsible for promoting a culture of service excellence culture that encourages quality service, enhances the image of the institution and promotes staff retention.
Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other medical center departments in order to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems.
Assists in ensuring the Ultrasound section is compliant with The Joint Commission, ACR, ICAVL, TDH and other accreditation and regulatory standards.
Monitors, evaluates and modifies staffing patterns in order to properly utilize assigned staff to provide services in assigned areas
Assures licenses and registration renewals are current and documented as such for all staff and the department.
Investigates, resolves and documents the resolution of patient complaints concerning services provided in a timely and accurate manner.
Identifies patient service requirements by utilizing AIDET when communicating with patients to assure they perform the correct exam on the correct patient, establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand the service requirements.
Participates in shared governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees This can also include LEAN initiatives, 5S projects, inter-departmental committees, or any professional organization participation, QC assurance with radiologist, etc.
The ideal candidate for the Supervisor of Ultrasound will be able to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending staff meetings, educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers ARDMS (OB/GYN) or (AB) or (BR) or (RVT) or (MSK) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (S) or (BS) Certification
