Develop and teach undergraduate courses in the Early Childhood Education and Child Development Curriculums. Use of educational media and technology to enhance student learning will be expected. Serve as the coordinator, including recruitment and student advising, for the campus Early Childhood Education and Child Development degree programs. Development of research and scholarly activities. Participate in service activities, including campus governance, professional development, community service, and accreditation activities. Demonstrate involvement in Professional Teacher Education Organizations. Participation in faculty meetings and university events. In addition to teaching and advising, the new faculty member will engage in curriculum and program improvement through the development of new courses and programs, revision of existing courses, creation of standards-based assessments that meet standards of professional organizations such as the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)/National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the National Association for Education of the Young Child [NAEYC], and review of Early Childhood Education data to inform program improvement.
Doctoral Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field equivalent from an accredited university by the time of appointment with emphasis on elementary education and a minimum of three years of teaching in the United States or related experience in preschool through 3rd grade.
Commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Teaching experience in a higher education (college or university) setting in the area of early childhood education.
