50% - The Sr. Grant & Contract Administrator (Sr. GA) is responsible for the formal solicitation, negotiation and administration of extramural support for University research, training, and public service projects sponsored by government and non-government sponsors (sponsored projects).
20% - The Sr. GA is responsible for advising and assisting University department administrators, principal investigators, and staff members; interpreting and explaining contract and grant terms and conditions, and assisting in the resolution of problems that develop in the course of projects by consulting with the investigator(s), staff, and sponsors.
15% - The incumbent will prepare, negotiate and oversee subawards issued under University of Minnesota (University) sponsored projects awards.
10% - The Sr. GA must have a strong service orientation, demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and sponsors. Experience with research administration in an academic setting is highly desirable. The Sr. GA must be energetic and able to function effectively in a fast-moving environment subject to external pressure and frequent interruptions. The Sr. GA is expected to provide back-up support for their colleagues and develop ideas for increasingly effective service.
5% - The Sr. GA position may include other duties as assigned, such as, mentoring of a lower level GAs.
BA/BS and four years of experience in proposal/award review, negotiation, and administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience to total eight years
Must have experience using standard computer tools (e.g., MS Office suite, email, calendaring)
Experience with Federal contract agreements and the application of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, grant administration circulars, regulations and policies is desirable
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
Proven good judgment
Demonstrated ability to conclude negotiations in a timely manner
Demonstrated analytical problem solving ability
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment
Proven ability to provide high quality service in a timely manner

Experience with accounting, contracting, or procurement and experience with federal government organization, operation and administrative procedures preferred
Sufficient background to understand the University and the academic research environment
