Under general supervision, applies professional concepts to perform moderately complex functions from one or more IT areas of specialization. •Routine patching of server OS and server-class software, primarily windows •Testing and verification of patch deployment •Maintenance of services (printing, filesharing, web services etc) •File backup and restoration •Active Directory User and Group Management Helps maintain security configurations. •Patch management and reporting of workstations at the managed enterprise level •Printer services administration •Antivirus and Anti-Malware management •Support of desktop imaging and deployment platform •Active Directory Policy Auditing Analyzes and supports basic operating systems, database or utilities software. •Installation of patches and hotfixes to enterprise software packages under the supervision of the systems architect and CTO •Making configuration changes based on pre-defined policies and guidelines •Tracking upcoming updates/upgrades/changes based on vendor notifications Analyzes and helps implement LAN and/or WAN system projects. Inventory and Maintenance •Ensuring server systems inventories are current •Replacement and secure decommissiong of old hardware (servers, hard drives etc) •Works with Information Architect on purchases (hardware, software, services)•Working knowledge of server and workstation hardware, operating systems and network hardware and software. •Requires strong organization and communication skills. Requires interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and nontechnical personnel at various levels in the organization (students, staff and faculty) and strong customer service focus. •Working knowledge of unit's business processes to provide back up to support staff of unit. •Ability to correctly diagnose problems and determine source of problem (hardware, operating system or software). •Working experience with Powershell,Bash or python scripting for systems management •Experience managing Windows and Linux VMs on an enterprise platform (AWS,Azure,VMWare, etc) •Experience with a ticketing/issue tracking system •Ability to use diplomacy when dealing with campus officials, professors or managers. •Demonstrates judgment to delegate/escalate issues appropriately. •Background check required.
Education/Training: •Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
