The Nurse Manager – Operating Room will be responsible for:
24/7 responsibilities planning, organizing and overseeing daily clinical and administrative operations of the operating room
Oversight of staffing needs and FTE complement as well as staff schedules to ensure optimal levels of patient care
Requesting and allocating resources and facilitating coordination of care/services to meet patient care and operational requirements
Developing, recommending and implementing internal standards, policies and procedures to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of patient care.
Selecting, supervising and evaluating nursing and clinical support staff.
Assisting in developing and providing staff education/development programs.
Leading and participating in hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary programs, committees and special projects
Selecting, supervising, and evaluating nursing and clinical support personnel and developing and providing support to staff education/development programs
Supporting the Boston Children's Hospital model of shared governance consistent with our Magnet designation and helping to lead professional nursing activities in presentations both inside and outside Boston Children's Hospital
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, Master's strongly preferred on hire and required within 4 years of hire
A minimum of four years of operating room experience required; pediatric experience a plus
2-3 years of leadership experience required, hospital setting preferred
Proficient computer skills and strong oral and written communication skills are essential in this role
Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical principles, theories and concepts to align with accepted clinical practice standards required
