Under the general direction of the Infrastructure & Platform Services Director, and as a member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) management team, this position leads and manages the Infrastructure & Platform Services Engineering Group. The Infrastructure & Platform Services Engineering Group provides direct and vital support for information services at Cal Poly, by developing, deploying, facilitating and supporting the use of enterprise infrastructure and platform services and technologies. The Infrastructure & Platform Services Engineering Manager is responsible for engineering, designing and deploying solutions for the value streams related to our enterprise infrastructure and associated platforms. This includes the core services related to the use of AWS and VMware as well as campus networking, Wi-Fi, telephony, classroom technologies, workstation engineering and other physical infrastructure such as cabling.
The Infrastructure & Platform Services Engineering Manager formulates and administers policies; reviews, evaluates and adjusts the program and goals for the group; determines methods, techniques, systems and materials required by the program; assesses, develops and applies changes in policies and programs; and represents the program to the campus. The manager exercises collaborative leadership and managerial oversight, including operations, budget and talent.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in the area of Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure & Associated Platforms, Networking, Building Technology Infrastructure or related field.

Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.

This position classification has been defined as 'Exempt' and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date. Employment of retired CalPERS members will typically be for 90 days or less and must be for work requiring specialized skills or for a bona fide emergency to prevent stoppage of business.
