This 12-month residency is offered in conjunction with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and the Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) Foundation. The primary goal of the program is to improve health outcomes and decrease health disparities through a systems approach for non-communicable diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. The Pharm.D. Resident will spend approximately six months in southern Africa working with colleagues in the BMS "Secure the Future®" Program to help build capacity and provide training to partner organizations. The Resident will then complete the remainder of the program in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, working with the Specialty Care for Vulnerable Populations initiative that address health inequities in the United States.
As adjunct faculty at the EMSOP, there will be many opportunities for the Resident to enhance his/her experience by collaborating with faculty through scholarship, publication, teaching, and maintenance of clinical skills. The Resident will also be invited to participate in activities offered through the Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship (RPIF) Program (http://pharmafellows.rutgers.edu) including participation in the bimonthly Professional Development Series, and will have access to a large network of Fellowship alumni.
Job Requirements: Applicants should possess a Pharm.D. degree. Completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent experience is strongly preferred. An interest in exploring a career in the public health is desirable. Prior experience, and/or a professional passion for working in public health, community health and/or in chromic disease state management including cancer and cardiovascular disease is preferred.
