The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry's Dental Auxiliary (DAU) is seeking two Certified Dental Assistants for the Periodontics Department.
The School of Dentistry Dental Auxiliary (DAU) is seeking a Certified Dental Assistant. Duties include but are not limited to:
Prepare dental treatment areas through disinfection and sterilization
Prepare, sterilize, disinfect, and maintain dental instruments, supplies and equipment
Keep the patient's mouth clean and dry during procedures
Greeting and seating patients as they arrive
Instruct patients on proper dental hygiene
Prepare and assist doctors in all facets of consults, non-surgical and surgical therapy
Assist with patients undergoing sedation
Charting with the electronic health record
Check with doctors for treatment instructions
Taking Records (including x-rays, pictures and impressions) as needed
Keep day to day supplies stocked at all times
Answering questions or directing the appropriate questions to the doctors
Maintaining the highest standards in regards to patient safety, privacy and OHSA protocols
A High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Certification by the Certifying Board of the American Dental Assistant's Association is necessary.
Good health and high standard of personal hygiene is necessary.
Ability to instruct dental students in preparing them to effectively work with a dental assistant in complete auxiliary utilization is necessary.
Maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the workday.
Excellent customer service skills with an outgoing, people friendly personality.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Dedicated to true team work and able to adjust to the demands of a flexible and fluid schedule.
Desire to learn new skills and expand your potential
Full Time/Part Time
This position is a full-time, benefit-eligible position.
Salary range is $13.27 - $15.50 and is commensurate with experience and education.
