The Manager Project Services Delivery and OBO Projects provides leadership and direction in the provision of project services to the Delivery and Operated by Others (OBO) Projects group. This includes structuring and controlling the project scope, developing predictable cost estimates, and achievable plans and schedules ensuring that budgets, commitments and actual costs are monitored, changes managed, progress measured and forecasts reported and analysed to influence on-time and on-budget delivery of the project’s objectives.
A key part of the role is interfacing with Joint Venture partners (both the Operator and other Non-Operating partners) and influencing the strategy and direction of the projects as the non-operating partner, which will require a good understanding of the commercial aspects of the JV agreements and strong influencing skills.
In this role you will:
Provide critical functional expertise and advisory support to the Project Manager, Project Director, Program Director or VP Projects to identify key issues and early warning indicators to ensure study/project meets or exceeds approved business objectives.
Manage all Project Services sub-functions for the Delivery and OBO projects, including Cost Estimating, Planning & Scheduling, Project Controls and Cost Engineering.
Establish effective communication channels to encourage collaboration and new ideas.
Provide leadership for the implementation of relevant Group Level Documents (GLD) and associated Group standards, and develops local processes, methodologies, strategies, systems and functional plans for a program of major capital projects, in alignment with group frameworks and strategies.
Maintain oversight to ensure that the latest approaches to Project Services are continuously being reviewed for incorporation into local procedures, systems and functional plans, by liaising with the Head of Project Services and Project Centre of Excellence.
Collaborate with Study\Project\General Manager(s) to ensure the provision of appropriately skilled Project Services resources, with fit for purposes processes & tools, are available to achieve the project’s integrated scope, cost & schedule requirements.
Ensure all project services deliverables including estimates, schedules, reports and associated analysis are delivered to a high quality standard, within required timeframes and with clear documented assumptions and basis outlines for traceability and clear explanations to wider team members.
Represent BHP at Joint venture meetings and communicates externally with JOA partners and government entities, regarding BHP processes and business positions, including Work Programs/Budgets.
Manage and provides advice on the investment process and requirements.
Understand Joint Venture Agreements and typical Finance and Commercial requirements to ensure requirements are included within project plans and risks adequately identified. Requires strong co-ordination and interface with JV Agreement teams, Commercial and Finance teams and overall Asset management.
Manage inputs to Annual planning and budgeting process.
Undergraduate qualifications in Business, Finance, Engineering, Construction or Quantity Surveying
Project Management qualifications favourable
15-20 years of practical experience in a capital project environment in Project Management or Project Services roles
Experience in working on Non-Operated projects and interfacing with JV partners and Commercial teams.
Project Services experience in leading and delivering across a large and diverse portfolio of projects
Demonstrated experience with project management systems & techniques
Experience in leading and developing a team
Ability to engage with & communicate effectively across multiple business units and functional areas
