The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Associate Director, Gift Accounting.
Incumbent is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the financial data in the Advancement record keeping system for Brown University.He/she prepares and reconciles internal and external fundraising reports.Manages and directs the development and generation of donor acknowledgements, pledge reminders and confirmations, ensuring timely accounting of gifts to donors and the appropriate University departments.He/she manages the Gift Accounting staff.The incumbent is an expert in all aspects of Gift Accounting working closely with the internal and external auditors, Investment Office, Controllerâ™s Office, university senior administrators, prospect managers as well as communicating directly with donors. Colaborates closely with Advancement Information Services to develop and refine financial reporting. The incumbent must be knowledgable in Internal Revenue Service, Financial Accounting Standards Board and Council for the Advancement of Education guidelines that govern the recording, receipting and reporting of gifts.Incumbent must also be knowledgeable ofthe external auditing and accounting standards for gift accounting data used to prepare the University financial statement.
Bachelorâ™s degree and minimum 5 years financial/accounting experience; minimum three years supervisory experience.
Experience at a University/non-for-profit preferred.
Minimum of 3 years working within a gift accounting department at a non-profit organization.
The incumbent must be knowledgeable in Internal Revenue Service, Financial Accounting Standards Board and Council for the Advancement and Support of Education guidelines that govern the recording, receipting and reporting of gifts.
Incumbent must also be knowledgeable of the external auditing and accounting standards for gift accounting data used to prepare the University financial statement.
Strong management skills required.
Excellent organizational, planning and analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and a strong customer service attitude.
Proficiency in a Windows network environment and Microsoft Office applications as well as Blackbaud non-profit software.
