The purpose of the role is to support and execute GCG Wealth management strategy and business plans through minimal but expert product team presence on the ground. The job holder will execute the wealth management product strategy in Bahrain as well as look after all administrative and controls aspect of product management in cooperation with the Dubai based WM product team and own specific product lines for the MENA region (e.g. Structured Products, Fixed Income) depending on qualification.
Execute Citi's Middle East (ME) Wealth Management product strategy across investments, Insurance, Advisory, FX/Liabilities.
Support the local sales team ask in corporation with the Dubai Product team.
Drive the culture of portfolio approach and trusted advisory model among the WM team.
Ensure that the WM team is trained regularly and is up to date on the certifications.
Coordinate effectively with other in-country departments for better synergy for smooth functioning of WM, Liability and Treasury products.
Participate and contribute to the regular senior management meetings and drive the WM business from the product perspective.
Have a holistic view towards growth of the WM business and contribute to the country specific strategy development.
In cooperation with the product controls officer, ensure all aspects of the WM controls framework are effectively adhered to without issues and with satisfactory audit results.
Specifically, ensure the Regulatory Risk Control Matrix for WM Product is adhered to on account of compliance of all local products and reporting with CBB requirements.
Plan, organize, direct and control product related activities and resource in order to meet financial and non-financial objectives of Wealth Management.
Represent the Product Team onshore in Bahrain through liaison with end clients and internal clients (sales) as well as support functions (O and T, Legal, Compliance)
Launching and implementation of new products as per business strategy.
Ensure the Regulatory Risk Control Matrix for WM Product is adhered to on account of compliance of all local products and reporting with CBB requirements.
Facilitate framework for portfolio counselling provide thought leadership to WM sales with talk offs/trainings/advisory/ideas and identify training needs and implement training programs and drive completion of certifications and follow up in order to improve the staff competencies.
Effectively manage the relationships with external entities like regulators product providers etc., and also with internal stakeholders like operations, compliance, legal, finance, credit risk and regional teams.
Ensure that audit, compliance, and controls for the WM/Liabilities business are in place and are managed effectively. Oversee the operations delivery towards customer proposition.
Ensure the Regulatory Risk Control Matrix for WM Product is adhered to on account of compliance of all local products and reporting with CBB requirements. Facilitate the successful completion of Managers Control Assessment.
Ensure that all regional reports and MIS are provided on time and all regional guidelines are also adhered to.
Effectively liaise and contribute on governance requirements for Wealth Management – IISC, BRCC, complaints committee and any other committee as required.
Contribute towards digital banking and work toward digitalization's.
Ensure that the RM'S and unit heads are provided proper coaching in order to ensure clients' portfolios are in lines with the investment strategy of the bank.
Ensure research communication is constantly implemented and create awareness and understanding in the business.
Manage the assigned Investment Product Line (e.g. Structured Products, Fixed Income)
Master degree in business, economics or finance.
CFA or an equivalent degree a strong plus.
10+ years relevant work experience in Investment Research and/or Portfolio Counselling in Consumer Banking, Wealth Management or Asset Management.
Excellent understanding of macroeconomics.
Ability to speak in public explaining cause and effect of events in global economy as well as relate the Citi advice to the same.
Experience in managing and coaching a team
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the banking and wealth management proposition.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, relationship management and presentation skills.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
Fluent in English (both, written and verbal).
Good and proven people management skills.
Arabic language skills are an advantage for this role
