In 2018, the state of NJ committed funds to establish a universal representation pilot project, aimed at providing representation to immigrants in New Jersey. The Rutgers Law School Immigrant Rights Clinic is one of four partners in the pilot project. The Lead Staff Attorney will represent detained and non-detained immigrants in Newark and surrounding areas before the immigration courts and Board of Immigration Appeals. The Lead Staff Attorney, working with Professor Gupta, will also coordinate clinical and nonclinical law students representing these individuals or providing assistance the project.
This position will represent detained and non-detained immigrants as well as coordinate clinical and non-clinic law students.
This position’s availability is subject to approved grant funding.

Minimum Education and Experience:
J.D. and at least at least 3 years' experience in immigration law required. Admission to the bar of any state, in good standing, required.
Fluency in another language is desired, though not required.
