Biomedical Equipment Engineer III – Clinical Engineering – Orlando
Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Biomedical Equipment Engineer III who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. As part of Adventist Health System, Florida Hospital central region, The Clinical Engineering (CE) department of Florida Hospital provides for the support, maintenance and safe use of all medical devices across the central region of 8 acute care facilitates. To meet this scope of service, the CE Department oversees the actions of three groups: biomedical service, radiology service and sterilizer service. Each of these three groups performs repair, preventive maintenance and calibration on their respective equipment. The Biomedical services team at our Orlando campus is seeking a qualified candidate to join a dynamic, progressive team of Biomedical equipment technicians and specialist, that are engaged in providing exceptional service to the needs of Florida Hospital.
Monday through Friday; 7a – 3:30p
The Biomedical Equipment Engineer III, under minimal supervision of Lead Engineer or Department Manager, ensures that critical diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment is functioning properly. Provides technical guidance and oversight and acts as a point of escalation and technical expert. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
In depth knowledge of medical equipment and electronics
Ability to comprehend technical manuals and instructions
In depth knowledge of medical equipment test devices
Associates degree in Electronic Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, OR
Equivalent combination of education/training in military, technical schools, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare facility setting, or a related technical service support role in medical device industry
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Provides technical guidance and oversight. Assists team members in complex problem analysis and issue resolution. Acts as escalation point for technical issues. Mentors team members on best practices and standards.
Recommends improvements to processes and technology that improve the effectiveness of the team.
Assists with the development of the medical equipment maintenance procedures.
Ensures that critical diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment is functioning properly and performs preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoots equipment/devices and resolves issues, escalating where additional support is required.
Completes device repairs and requisition forms for parts and repairs.
Documents work performed in asset management tool. Maintains awareness of standards and procedures.
Participates in Biomedical Engineering cross-training, as required, and mentors lower level engineers, level 1 and level 2, with medical equipment troubleshooting techniques and device knowledge.
On-Call rotation and flexible work time may be required.
Some travel within the region may be required.
