Advertised Summary Job Description: The Administrative Clerk (Patient Service Assistant) is responsible for the continuum of activities surrounding patient care from scheduling, through account reconciliation to prompt payment collection. Accountable for customer service, and maintaining working relationships with all functional areas, staff, students, faculty, and patients. Responsible for applicable front end revenue cycle and accurate data collection. Proficient with systems used.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Reviews the roster of assigned students to assure schedule efficiency. 2. Reconciles patient accounts. 3. Sets up payment plans. 4. Processes refunds and adjustments. 5. Assists in missing charges resolution. 6. Informs providers and assigned faculty of any deficiencies. 7. Meets regulatory requirements mandated, including but not limited to Article 28 awareness, HIPAA compliance training, and all CU, CUMC and CDM training programs. 8. Ensures that patients, students, residents, faculty, other staff, and managers are treated with respect and courtesy. 9. Promotes culture of teamwork, commitment and accountability. Provides recommendations for process improvement. 10. Assumes responsibility for self-development. 11. Conforms to all applicable Art. 29, HIPAA, billing compliance and safety policies and guidelines. 12. Escalates any issues as appropriate. Advises the Manager on matters pertinent to the excellence in clinic operations. 13. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Two Years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience plus a minimum of two to three years related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Able to build relationships and interact with diverse groups of individuals at all levels through influence and persuasion. Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and undertake multiple tasks as required. Requires strong communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of EHR and electronic scheduling systems. Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Axium Dental Software experience, knowledge of dental billing system. Familiar with Dental insurance billing, collections and eligibility as it pertains to managed care, government and self-pay reimbursement concepts and overall operational impact. Bilingual English/Spanish.
