CCE of Saratoga County is seeking a full time qualified and experienced incumbent responsible for developing, planning, implementing and evaluating the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine educational programming. The Educator is responsible for identifying and assessing educational program needs, developing program goals and objectives, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for youth (4-H Animal Science) and adults (primarily CCE Equine).
This position also provides support and management for program volunteers, seasonal staff and interns as needed. The Educator works as an Extension Association team member in addressing local, regional, and statewide programming priorities. The Educator leads, oversees and carries out fund development and fundraising efforts related to 4-H Animal Science, CCE Equine, and Association general fundraising activities (in collaboration with other Association staff fundraising efforts). The Educator interacts with the public through delivery of programs and through individual participant assistance.
The Educator collaborates with educational partners including Cornell University and community agencies or program development, delivery, assessment, and evaluation guidance.
This position receives direct supervision and 4-H oversight from the 4-H Family & Consumer Sciences Issue Leader and receives program oversight in CCE Equine matters from the Agriculture Issue Leader.

Master's degree in animal science, education, youth development, or related discipline plus experience relevant to the role of the position.
Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs.
Ability to meet the frequent travel requirements associated with this position. A valid NYS driver's license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for Association insurance coverage are required.
Ability to meet acceptable background check requirements.

Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Program Assessment - 15%
Develop methodology in collaboration with Issue Leaders, the Association Executive Director, staff, community partners, and other stakeholders to assess the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs.
Identify program gaps and emerging needs and make recommendations for programmatic offerings, enhancements or improvements.
Ensure program assessment is within scope of the statewide Plan of Work and in-line with any funder's guidance.
Use subject matter knowledge to conduct needs assessments and analyze program needs.
May be involved in multidisciplinary and multi-Association team efforts to assess program.
Maintain direct linkage with Cornell University and possibly other Land Grant University faculty and program units for program assessment guidance.
Program Development - 20%
Apply subject matter knowledge to develop well integrated 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine educational strategies related but not limited to: County and State Fair, Dairy Visions, Vet Science, Dog Obedience, Day At The Track, Poultry, Horse Advisory Committee, Agri-Business Conference, Saratoga Horse Symposium, Horseman's Social, and Saratoga Horse Farm Tour, and Sundae On the Farm.
Develop the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs to meet changing local issues. May assist in development of 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs to meet changing regional and multi-Association issues.
Make programmatic changes based on program evaluation outcomes.
Use a system of ongoing involvement of citizens in the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine program development process which expresses the demographics of the community.
Maintain direct linkage with Cornell University and possibly other Lang Grant University faculty and program units for program development guidance.
Research, identify and select existing resources for the program. Create program materials to address 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine needs.
Create innovative educational programs.
Interpret Association and University program direction to create 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine educational programs.
Ensure program development is within scope of the statewide Plan of Work. Structure programs to meet the need of diverse program participants.
May be involved in multidisciplinary and multi-Association team efforts to develop program to address priority issues.
May assist in application of a high level of disciplinary subject matter knowledge to develop educational strategies.
Program Delivery - 20%
Serve as subject matter expert for 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs; provide highly complex nonstandard responses. Programs include but are not limited to: County and State Fairs, Dairy Visions, Vet Science, Dog Obedience, Day At The Track, Poultry, Horse Advisory Committee, Agri-Business Conference, Saratoga Horse Symposium, Horseman's Social, and Saratoga Horse Farm Tour, and Sundae On the Farm.
Meets or exceeds targeted 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine program goals as assigned by the supervisor.
Interact with program participants as part of the program delivery process.
Represent CCE Saratoga and especially the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell or other land grant universities as part of program delivery.
Foster acceptance of the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs, methods and policies to address community and individual needs and consider diverse audiences.
Maintain direct linkage with Cornell University and possibly other Land Grant University faculty and program units for program delivery guidance.
Apply in-depth subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans to deliver educational program.
Ensure program delivery is within scope of the statewide Plan of Work.
Teach the existing related educational programs as defined. Teach the innovative related educational programs with discretion.
Provide educational program efforts via mass media.
May be involved in multidisciplinary team and multi-Association efforts to deliver program.
Utilize a variety of proven educational methodologies.
Program Evaluation - 10%
Apply subject matter knowledge to evaluate 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine educational programs.
Make recommendations for 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine program improvements.
Design or create and implement program evaluation framework and analyze collected program evaluation data.
Maintain direct linkage with Cornell University and possibly other Land Grant University faculty and program units for program evaluation guidance.
Interpret and communicate evaluation results and findings to the constituencies.
Ensure program evaluation is within scope of the statewide Plan of Work.
May be involved in multidisciplinary and multi-Association team efforts to design or analyze program evaluation.
Applied Research - 5%
Communicate social and economic changes to Cornell University Specialists that may be studied and/or acted upon.
Ensure applied research is within scope of the statewide Plan of Work and in-line with the local Plan of Work.
Assist in conducting applied research in conjunction with Cornell University and possibly other Land Grant University Faculty as outlined in CCE program definition and standard.
Assist in the collaboration with Cornell faculty to design or create applied research collection framework.
Direction - 10%
Program Direction - Provide complex administrative tasks to plan the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine educational programs. Interpret Association and University program direction to plan related educational programs. Plan the delivery of established educational program goals. Plan the structure of delivering educational programs via various methods. Assist in the design of a system of ongoing involvement of citizens which expresses the demographics of the community.
Financial Direction - Provide input to the planning of the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine budgets. Initiate and develop fundraising, grant or other funding proposals in order to secure ongoing or new funding to support and enhance educational program offerings.
Communications/Marketing Direction - Provide planning for mass media efforts related to 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs. Plan effective strategic external and internal program communication/ marketing efforts. Assist in developing and/or enhancing/ expanding relationships with appropriate agencies, organizations, industries and community leaders. Assist in developing the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine marketing efforts, keying in on successes, research initiatives and flagship programs.
Management - 10%
Program Management - Manage the promotion of 4-H Youth Development and volunteer recruitment efforts including enrollment campaigns, public relation initiatives and networking/collaborating with government, economic, educational and other organizations. Meets or exceeds targeted 4-H volunteer recruitment goals assigned by the 4-H Team Leader. Monitor program to ensure that educational content conforms to research base, policies and objectives of the Association and is research knowledge-based. Support volunteer recruitment and involvement.
Staffing Management - Provide support to and manages volunteers, seasonal program staff, and interns as needed.
Financial Management - Provide moderately complex administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine program budgets. Manage 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine fundraising efforts, grants or other funding proposals in order to secure ongoing or new funding to support and enhance educational program offerings. Monitoring income/ expense to ensure the spending is within budget constraint. Effectively allocate financial resources to accomplish program objectives.
Communications/Marketing Management - Guide the implementation of communication strategies that relate to 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs.
General Management - assist in solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise in the 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine programs, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
Coordination/Operation - 5%
Implement established 4-H Animal Science and CCE Equine program schedules.
Financial Coordination - Complete required financial documentation to meet program budget requirements. Coordinate various fundraising events. Submit appropriate grant or other funding proposals, including financial documentation that may be required. Prepare expense reports.
Travel to various locations in an effort to meet program material and marketing needs. Examples include but are not limited to purchasing and/or delivering program materials, taking pictures and notes, etc.
On a frequent basis transports self, and/or youth program participants (for example, to Cornell University, State Fairgrounds, etc.) in Association or personal vehicles.
Frequently lifts, moves, or transports program materials and resources to program settings.
Provide administrative support for program design and for the implementation of the assessment, development, delivery, research and evaluation of established educational program goals.
Compile existing resources into educational program materials.
Collect evaluation and program needs assessment data from program participants based on existing framework.
Support mass media efforts.
Schedule, coordinate and facilitate project-related meetings and conference calls as required or as needed.
Complete evaluation submission and reporting requirements following established grant criteria/plan.
Professional Improvement - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
