The Role / Responsibilities: The Associate - Research Support will work closely with India-based research and editorial colleagues, onshore Analysts and Research Managers, and the MIS Production Team. Key activities include:
Create / update research reports for public companies across a range of industry sectors; the reports cover multiple facets of an entity including company overview, business/segment description, management strategy and priorities, financial highlights, capital structure & debt maturity, company management, ownership structure, subsidiaries, company history, distribution channels
Locating and using public information and data sources such as company filings, management presentations, company, government and ministry websites, company and industry databases, and other general secondary sources
Quality check reports to assure accuracy of financial data and written content Working in the Moody's Content Management System (CMS) platform; CMS is used to create, update and edit reports, as well as managing workflow and publication processes
The MIS Research group's objective is to enable MIS to get the right research to the right people at the right time. The Research group is responsible for driving research content, organizing product management, overseeing operations & managing operational controls. This role is part of the function that supports the overall MIS Research objective by managing onshore and/or offshore research, ratings and data activities.
Research Support is a global team with members located in New York, London, Gurgaon and Bangalore. This role supports the creation and publication of various types of research reports for Moody's Investors Service, across multiple regions and a wide range of industry sectors. The team's output includes a mix of financial and descriptive written content.
Post-graduate / MBA
1-2 years of related financial research experience
Research background with experience handling projects across industries/ sectors/ geographies
Familiarity with financial statements and a strong financial vocabulary
Understand key sections and structure of public company filings, e.g., where to locate balance sheet data, where to look for key affiliations of the Board of Directors, description of company business segments, etc.
Strong MS Excel skills; ability to build and format financial tables, create/update various styles of charts (pie, column, line, multi-axis)
Ability to search the internet to locate relevant source materials
Strong written and spoken English
Ability to interact directly via phone and/or email with onshore Research Managers and Analysts to both pose and respond to questions when necessary, e.g., clarify Analyst instructions, request research source materials
Manage work assignments and deadlines to deliver on schedule
Strong organizational / time management skills; tenacious and flexible in high-pressure work situations
Proactive problem-solving abilities
A positive outgoing attitude with good interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships with fellow team members
