The Career Services Coordinator, under general supervision, coordinates program efforts to promote full use of career services by undergraduate students at each campus. Enhances outreach and communication efforts to student groups on campus and employers in the community by coordinating advertising programs.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education.
Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education, industry or government.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents of the Career Center; i.e., students from diverse backgrounds, college administrators, faculty, and staff.
Requires excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment as well as to manage multiple, on-going programs and services.
Ability to assist students in their determination of majors with respect to potential career paths.
Ability and background to design, develop models, and implement technologies for e-learning.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masterâ™s degree in applicable field.
Two or more years of progressively responsible experience, including career services and knowledge of international students experience in higher education.
Some leadership experience.
Preferred Other Factors:
Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends occasionally.
Salary Range: $43,000 - $45, 000
Provides career advising and career programming to General Engineering students in the College of Engineering. These General Engineering students include those that have yet to be accepted into an engineering department or have multiple majors of interest such as Interdisciplinary Engineering. Advises students in the areas of career choice and career planning, employer and industry research, job search skills/techniques such as resume writing, job search strategies (for both U.S. and non-U.S. students), networking, interviewing, and salary evaluation.
Researches, creates, and executes innovative methods of digitally delivering career services to large student populations in Engineering to include the design, development of models, and implementation of technologies, including online collaboration, live-streaming, LMS platforms, web-based presentations, and virtual instruction. Creates and implements large-scale programs or events that connect employers by industry area to students, student organizations, and campus events, highlighting career options, and/or address specific areas consistently requested by students.
Compiles resources that provide information regarding career-related information for freshman General Engineering students. Conducts both quantitative and qualitative research to determine the technical and professional skills that students must possess to succeed in their chosen careers, including industry and employment trends, employer expectations, and tools for assessment of studentsâ™ mastery of these skills. Develops new resources, both electronic and hard-copy, for students, engineering advisors, and faculty. Maintains the website content for this population on the Career Center website and develops new content. Contributes to social media and web content regularly for the Career Center.
Acts as a liaison between faculty, students, recruiters, and the Career Center. Meets regularly with faculty and Academic Advisors in each Engineering Department as well as staff in the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies and International Student Services. Creates and submits special programs to be presented at regional and national conferences.
Participates in Career Center, University, and professional organization training and development offerings. Works closely with supervisor in setting and attaining goals established as part of regular performance evaluations. Stays up-to-date with e-learning technologies, data analysis and formatting/presentation of analytical information, latest hiring trends, and student development practices.
Supports the Career Center mission by participating in programs and services including the presentation of workshops and events, walk-in advising, committee work, and weekly meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
