The department embraces a teaching philosophy that adopts a whole person counseling approach and integrates a mind/body/spirit paradigm within its clinical training programs. The Counseling, Leadership, and Expressive Arts Department offers classes in Newport and Warwick, Rhode Island.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate will primarily teach courses in the CACREP core areas.
3:4 teaching load in a nine-month academic year (September-May) with the option to teach summer classes.
Department faculty advise graduate counseling students, participate in University service, and engage in scholarship.
This is a tenure-track position, eligible to apply for promotion/tenure after five years of probationary service.
Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program specializing in Mental Health Counseling.
Demonstrate an integrated approach to counseling.
Evidence of effective teaching experience in a higher education setting.
Evidence of effective supervision experience in clinical practice courses/counseling skills/practicum and internship.
Evidence of scholarly activities related to mental health counseling.
Membership and commitment in clinical mental health counseling and counselor education related professional organizations.
Evidence of a commitment to universal justice/social justice/equity.
Commitment to working to be a racial/gender/disability ally.
CRC or CRC eligible preferred.
Knowledge of Rehabilitation Counseling.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Work experience in clinical mental health counseling.
Evidence of collaboration, collegiality, and teamwork.
Knowledge of and /or experience with ongoing CACREP accreditation process.
Experience with on-line pedagogy.
