Professionals within Legal and Compliance provide a wide range of services to our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm's invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm's businesses.
The positions are in Morgan Stanley's Legal Field Services Unit ("FSU"). The FSU is a part of the Legal & Compliance Division and handles legal inquiries raised by Risk Officers, Branch Management, Financial Advisors, and other personnel in the firm's retail brokerage branch system. The types of issues that the person filling this position will be responsible for include, but are not limited to, issues involving IRA accounts, custom IRA beneficiary designations, application of guardianships, conservatorships and powers of attorney to IRA accounts, issues relating to a minor who is an IRA beneficiary, issues relating to a trust as IRA beneficiary, etc.
The FSU Paralegal is a consolidated point of legal contact for Morgan Stanley branch personnel. The FSU Paralegal will be responsible for addressing branch inquiries, conducting legal research, drafting letters to clients and attorneys, drafting agreements, advising branch personnel on relevant law, and working on group projects all relating to IRA accounts .
