RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide oversight for Bachelor of Music Education program and serve as liaison between Music and Education departments facilitating field placements. Duties may include some supervision of student teachers and junior field experiences. Teach a half time load with additional advising, service and administrative responsibilities. Teach our current course in General Music and Choral Methods K-12, other music education curriculum appropriate to the candidate’s background and training. Additional possible teaching areas in music core curriculum and ensemble direction, depending on background and expertise. Applicants will demonstrate ability to carry out the primary responsibilities of the position, work collaboratively with colleagues and students, and maintain active membership and participation in professional music education organizations.
DEPARTMENT: The department is composed of nine full-time and many part-time faculty who are members of prestigious performing organizations. The department offers majors in Performance, Music Education, Music, Musical Theatre, and Music & Business and minors in Music, Audio Production and Arts Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate or ABD in Music Education preferred, Masters in Music Education with extensive public school teaching experience required, experience teaching at the college/university level desired. Expertise in Elementary and General Music, including Orff, Kodály or Dalcroze techniques highly desirable. Rank will be determined based on highest degree earned and experience.
