We are currently in search of a Chief Financial Officer for a National Social Services Organization. The position is based in Downtown Chicago. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic business partner to the President & CEO, Human Resources, Board of Directors, and Senior Management Team. This person will lead an accounting team and supervise human resources, and will have oversight and leadership of planning/analysis, controllership, treasury, tax, risk management, and investor relations. The CFO will be a broadly qualified and highly talented financial executive with extensive finance/operations experience in business environments that are fast-paced and team oriented.

Our Ideal Candidate:
8-10 years of experience in finance, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
BA in Business/Finance required, MBA highly desired.
Experience as the CFO in a nonprofit organization preferred.
Ability to confidently work with the Board and senior management. Regular interaction with representatives of the Organization’s major shareholders is a key requirement of the role.
Must be a team player and able to collaborate with all departments within the organization.
Comfortable working with bankers, outside audit firms.
Track record of leadership, team building, and business process optimization.
Verifiable success leading a finance department in a dynamic, results oriented environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable in an environment of continuous rigorous intellectual debate.
Experience working in a variety of financial or operating assignments in which he or she has been responsible for executing best in class process disciplines to optimize business results.
Experience working with Finance and/or Audit Committees of a Board of Directors.
General management/operations experience a plus.
Diversity of experience and background is desired.
Generally considered to be an individual with great energy and a high level of emotional intelligence.
How You Will Spend Your Day:
Serve as a business partner to the CEO and other members of senior management and the Board, providing insight and counsel relative to all areas of strategic planning, growth and financial leadership.
Serve as a key partner in the preparation of Board of Director materials, and collaborating with the Chair of the Audit Committee.
Oversee all financial management issues for the Organization, including financial planning, budgeting, corporate tax matters, insurance, investments, internal audit, strategic financial analysis, valuation of assets, as well as leading accounting and financial reporting functions globally.
Communicate all financial matters and issues with senior management and the Board; and will have principal responsibility for working closely with Wall Street to ensure credibility with the investment community.
Will have day-to-day responsibility working with the segment business leaders to ensure that best-in-class business processes are integrated throughout the Organization in all business matters. The importance of a collaborative and value-added relationship with internal stakeholders will be critically important.
Direct involvement with the business leaders for timely budget preparation, forecasting and analysis. This process should culminate in a blueprint for achieving overall strategic and operational objectives of the Organization.
Embed a culture of integrity, ethics and transparency. The CFO should quickly earn the respect of his/her peers, subordinates, and superiors for his/her integrity, ethics, moral compass, and ability to set a standard for their leadership to follow.
Ensure corporate-wide compliance with all FASB, GAAP, and other standards, regulatory requirements and government reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley and SEC requirements.
Ensure a “best-in-class” finance team at the corporate and business segment operating level of the Organization. The successful candidate will have a passion for developing and mentoring people throughout the business.
Embed and share best practices, including continuous improvement Organization-wide.
