Responsible for leading SCB's Capital Markets offering and originating and executing Capital Markets business with Financial Institutions clients in the European Union ("EU").
Responsible for delivering a Capital Markets FIG Europe budget target of US$7m for 2018 and contribution to the broader Capital Markets FIG P&L for Europe and Americas (2018 budget of US$23m) while at all times maintain an awareness and understanding of the Group's business strategy, specifically the FM 5C's strategy.
Demonstrating full awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates, improve SCB's FIG Capital Markets origination and execution efforts in the EU through:
Delivering best in class FIG advisory and the SCB franchise / product suite to originate Capital Markets business from FI clients
Driving the growth of DCM relationships with FI clients in the EU and generating new revenue opportunities
Building and developing Treasurer level client relationships with G-SIB and D-SIB clients
Building and developing relationships with key regulatory stakeholders (e.g. ECB) to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of advising clients on regulatory change
Advising clients on the impact of new capital / liquidity regulations, specifically as this pertains to funding and capital management
Improve visibility and the profile of SCB in these areas externally with clients and regulators
Ensuring seamless delivery of FIG Capital Markets advisory content to all internal stakeholders
Processes The role involves understanding of and compliance with strict and complex regulations and internal policies, procedures and rules People and Talent
Manage, lead and develop direct report to maximise their personal and the broader business success
Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for the broader Capital Markets team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners
Take an active role in the development of junior talent in the Capital Markets Europe & Americas team
Deliver regular product education sessions to internal stakeholders to maximise the origination capability of the bank
Risk Management Risk management and control are key to the role beginning from client on-boarding through to reputational risk in terms of intermediation of issuer's credit / reputational strength Governance Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Discharge all required FCA prescribed responsibilities as Certified Person
Proactively partner across the Bank to further the CM and broader Capital Markets agenda in the West, specifically:
Global Banking - effective thought leadership and content delivery for FI clients
Bond Syndicate - educating colleagues to ensure our pricing and market view remains up to date
FM Sales - educating investors on regulations and capital structures
Corporate Finance - capital implications of FI M&A
DCM Legal - educating support teams on regulations and capital structures
Compliance - ensuring appropriate controls and risk mitigation are in place at all times
Regulators - develop and maintain a dialogue with policy teams at key financial regulators (e.g. ECB/PRA)
Embed Here for good and Group's brand and values in Capital Solutions across Europe and the Americas
